Colon and Rectal

At Advanced Surgical Associates, our surgeons have vast experiences in treating colo-rectal diseases such as colon cancer, diverticular diseases, colostomy reversal, and hemorrhoids. Our surgeons are experienced and skilled in performing surgery using traditional methods, open procedures, or more advanced methods, such as conventional or robotic laparoscopy. We are up to date on the newest treatments and have access to the latest equipment available. Dr. Huy Nguyen is our primary colon cancer surgeon. In addition to surgical services, we sponsor a support group for our cancer patients and work closely with other specialists, including Oncologists. We recommend the Cancer Care Institute as a source of information and support for our colon cancer patients. Our goal is to provide the best and most up-to-date care possible.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoidectomy is surgery to remove hemorrhoids. Most of our patients will be given local sedation rather than general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia to eliminate the unpleasant side effects of anesthesia. Using traditional surgery, incisions are made in the tissue, the swollen vein inside the hemorrhoid is sutured off to prevent bleeding, and the hemorrhoid is removed. This often causes great discomfort to the patient post-operatively. Surgeons of Advanced Surgical Associates are also trained to use more advanced procedures whenever possible, including the use of a stapling device to remove hemorrhoidal tissue or the use of a tool that uses electrical current to seal the vessels of the hemorrhoid and then remove it. (Sealing the blood vessels this way is described as using ligatures.) These more up-to-date procedures cause the least amount of discomfort to the patient post-operatively.

…Our family is greatly, deeply grateful to doctor Nguyen’s expertise, dedication, sincere, and caring to his patients and their families.
